Nova Scotia to hold By-election in Cumberland South on 26 October 2010

Following the resignation of Progressive Conservative Party MLA Murray Scott, Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter announced that a by-election will be held for Cumberland South on 26 October 2010.

According to section 10(1) of the House of Assembly Act (Nova Scotia), where a seat in the House becomes vacant, a writ for an election to fill the vacancy shall be issued within six months after the vacancy occurs and such election shall be held within twelve months after the vacancy occurs.

Nominations for candidates close on 12 October 2010.

As of today, the following candidates have been nominated to run in the by-election.
