Nova Scotia Appoints Electoral Boundaries Commission

The Nova Scotia Government has announced the creation of an electoral boundaries commission.

The Commission was established pursuant to section 5(3) of the House of Assembly Act (Nova Scotia).

The Commission is tasked with preparing a report recommending the boundaries and names for the electoral districts comprising the Nova Scotia Legislature. The report must be approved by the Legislature. The Commission must submit an interim report to the attorney general by May 31 and its final report by Aug. 31.

The members of the Electoral Boundaries Commission are:

-- Teresa MacNeil, chair, St. Peter's, Cape Breton
-- Colin Dodds, vice-chair, Halifax Regional Municipality
-- Jill Grant, Halifax Regional Municipality
-- James Bickerton, Antigonish
-- Douglas Peach, Cape Breton
-- Paul Gaudet, Saulnierville, Digby Co.
-- Rustum Southwell, Halifax Regional Municipality
-- Barbara Feeney, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg Co.
